I can't speak for Vista requirements as Vista alone tends to be sluggish on anything less than 2GB of RAM, but these are the XP requirements:
Scheduler:
P3 700MHz 256MB
(this means you can have a really low spec "show computer")
Sequencer:
I don't have an official CPU spec yet, but pretty much anything Intel/AMD 1GHz+. RAM requirements are a bit more for the sequencer portion due to all of the graphic and audio processing. While Aurora will run on less by automatically switching to disk rendering instead of RAM rendering, having at least 1GB RAM is preferred for a less sluggish editing experience (particularly with the wait for "generating preview frames" at higher zoom levels). Playback will not chop without the higher RAM, but you'll enjoy life a lot more with it.
As an aside, while it is not an officially supported configuration, one end user has reported success runing Aurora on a Mac under Parallels. Edited by LightsOnLogan - 02 Sep 2008 at 7:37am |

All my beta testing of Aurora is being done on an "obsolete" 1.8Ghz dual-core under Vista. Have also tested on an old IBM R32 notebook (used to run Spectrum on it before the performance issues) with no ill effects. Aurora is THE solution to jumpy progress bars and the like.

Aurora is not as a resource HOG as Spectrum was. You would be surprised what low power hardware it will run on.
![]() Boy do I know about spectrum choppy. |

I've never run it on anything other than a laptop, no choppiness issues.

I was wondering how Aurora runs on Laptops. Does playback in sequencing run smoothly? I know Spectrum is always kind of choppy. What are the recommended computer specs for sequencing efficently with Aurora? Edited by ChrisL1976 - 01 Sep 2008 at 9:11pm |
