Thanks Michael! I too remain loyal to Aurora. The little I've seen here looks very interesting.

For me, the copy and paste fiasco would be a seller. Having to wait just irratiates me to no end. Aurora is a good program and I am not about to change. Too much money involved in the whole hobby to jump ship again.

Sorry boyz, I ain't going nowhere!!!Big%20smile

Fixing copy/paste is the top priority for the next release.  We're presently looking at 2 to 3 orders of magnitude faster than before and the ability to copy/paste between copies of Aurora.

The second priority is putting an end to the installer issues that have been with us since the start of 1.0.  The goal is to have no more uninstall/reboot/reinstall/reboot nonsense.  No guarantees yet... but there is a strong possibility that 1.1 will be able to run directly from a thumb drive without any installation at all.

There are other things being considered and tested as well, but it is too early to tell which of them will make the 1.1 release.  There is a new long term plan in place, but we can't talk about that yet... the competition is listening!

Any plans to fix the compatible problem with the D-Light ACx16 firmware v1.19 problem?

compfire,

Maybe... I don't know if that fix will make the 1.1 release or not.  Until then, D-Light has a newer firmware with a setting available to restore Aurora compatibility.

Copying from one file to another? Do you mean Aurora can load more than two files at a time or would I have to open 2 Auroras in order to copy and paste between the two?

I would think you would have to open 2 Auroras and copy and paster between.

2 Auroras

You still have to be careful because I don't think that there are two different backup files made.

You are correct.  At present there is only one workspace backup.  We might be able to do something about that though...

This is GREAT! I was dreading the thought of having to change sequencers this year.

My wish list:
- CUT/PASTE fix! I'm glad you have already addressed this. It has always been a pain!
- Multiple timing marker grids
- Multiple Channel grouping (or sort order)
- Ability to run mixed networks (d-light network and a dmx network)
- Ability to save a frequently used pattern to use in different sequences

May I also suggest a homepage update. The last "latest news" was in 2009 ;)

I will be giving the web site some needed marketing/PR attention just before the 1.1 release.  I'll add a new news item in the meantime :)

How about being able to delete an event as you edit live? By that I mean when you accidentally add an event, just press the right mouse button to delete and left mouse button to add. Much quicker than having to select the X and delete it. Just like how Spectrum had it. I know it isn't the same but that was a neat tool to use.

Cntrl+Z will undo you last commands.  I think up to the last 5 or so.  Once for each time you press it.

I like to keep one hand on the mouse, one on the keyboard - makes switching between tools easier by using the keyboard.

Good news... the workspace backup conflict when running multiple copies of Aurora will be taken care of in 1.1.

A quick update for y'all: All major issues with the new copy/paste just passed beta.  We're working on the installer issues now.

If I load a LOR file, will I be able to import more than one at a time? For example, there are two different LOR files of the same song, can I import both to end up making one or is this out to lunch to even think about it?

Not specifically in the upcoming version, but I suppose you could kinda emulate this type of "merge" by doing the following in the next version:

1) Import one sequence in each of two running instances of Aurora
2) Save the second imported instance
3) Import the channels from the saved second instance into the first instance
4) Copy/Paste the data from the second instance into the new channels in the first one.

It would give you a similar effect as you are looking for.  Whether or not that effect is really any benefit at all is another story.  I can think of a few cases where it would be a benefit... but I can also think of a lot of cases where you'd just end up with a mess.

Oh I'm sure there might be problems but with what I have in mind, it's better than buying the LOR software to get what I want from a file.
