The 2014 season is almost here!  Although most will not use Beta 1 in their displays this year, for those who will: Which bugs in the beta would you like to see knocked off the to-do list (fixed) first?

I probably will not have everything fixed so as to have beta 2 ready in time, but I certainly can prioritize on your suggestions.

Right off the bat, I can't recall the exact bug but it has something to do with the cut and paste. It will cause the program to crash.
I am just restarting to polish up a few sequences and when I do recreate the problem, I will let you know for sure.

By the way, big thanks for keeping Aurora alive even though people have not embraced it like it should have been. When I jumped ship from the dlight program to come here, this was going to be my last jump. I think Aurora is just as good as any other programs out there. I hate having to relearn how to walk.

I just remembered a bug in the Borealis. When you rename or move sequences around, it will sometimes rename or duplicate some sequences. Again, it is vague in my mind but I will get back to you, trust me.

Was the random channels turning on when a song was created from scratch in this beta (as opposed to being transmogrified from a v1.X version) ever dealt with?  If I can avoid having to use v1.X for sequencing that would be the best case scenario.

Also, my E1.31 servers kept crashing last year, forcing me into using two dongles and eliminating my third universe.

If we could get those two items solved that would be my priority.

If part of your question was for me, I can't recall. I haven't had the time to sequence these past days but I'm sure it will show up somewhere.... Wink

BUG: Trying to copy and paste an RGB event to another place, it just won't copy anything.

I believe the 307 update took care of this.

This one was a Jonathan-ism... you might recall that I could never replicate it and you were the only tester to report it.  I'm sure we'll eventually figure out what network configuration, antivirus, or whatever is causing it over in the beta forum, but this one is a bit of a nuisance I can't guarantee to find right away.

Interestingly, while the dongles worked perfect for you last year and not E1.31, on my display it was the exact opposite.  E1.31 was flawless, but the FTDI dongles had driver stability issues.

I'll look into this.  I'm pretty certain that I've copy/pasted numerous RGB sections (I use RGB heavily), but there might be something lurking in there affecting your setup (we did a rather significant overhaul of the copy/paste code in the 11th hour last year, so a bug in the RGB case wouldn't surprise me).

I do know there is a bug in beta 1 with W2E that can mess up nearby copy/paste operations.

The only way it will paste, is i fI highlight the area and say to use the area highlighted to paste the content. Doesn't always do it but it does. Just weird.

EDIT: I know how to recreate the bug. If you copy the event, it can't paste when doing the CTRL V portion of it. You have to use Right click, Paste only. Nothing from the keyboard input.

Another copy paste problem: Doing a new sequence from scratch, I want to copy events that I just did in a few seconds down and paste it to no go whatsoever.

EDIT: In Borealis, when you create an event and reuse it for different days, somehow, it left out 2 days. For example, I made a Sun-Thurs event. Then I reuse the song list for the Fri-Sat event and when it created it, it left out days 24 and 25 of October.

Is there a way to import LOR V3 files with the 307 version of Aurora?

Since I use the visualizer a lot I'd still like to see:
Background graphic (default.jpg) squished top to bottom when entering Draw Lights for Channel.

But sooner have the major issues addressed first in order that I might be able to run a smaller show this year. Been dark for 3 years now and want to wake up the new neighbors on the block.

Glad to see you back on your feet Bruce. I'm sure your neighbors have missed the traffic and commotion our lights cause each year. hahaha

It seems the biggest issue is with copy/paste, but I do have another high priority report regarding "phantom events" appearing on the grid under certain scroll conditions (I thought we fixed those with the 307 update, but I have a new report).  I do not yet know if that one is just a grid render issue (for lack of a better term, an "instrumentation error") or if there is actual data corruption (like there was in 300) causing that issue.  That one could be a nuisance to track down.  Since it is pretty much just official testers in this thread, let's move those issues to testing in the beta forum and leave this one open for new reports.

THANKS! I'm sort of back.. Economics are still playing a major factor and will end up being the determining factor if I can light up the neighborhood this year or not.

I converted all my Dlight stuff to DMX, added some Lynx controllers, some other DMX controllers and I'm really anxious to get things rolling once again and try using some of this stuff I accumulated in hopes of once again pulling some of the magic out of the Christmas lights. I've stuck fast to Aurora. Oh yeah I looked at others but this is still where I feel comfortable and the best.

Know that I don't hit the forums as much as I should and hopefully this will improve soon.

thanks again.

Any show to create memories for kids and adults alike, to me is worth it. I'll never have the Richard Holdman type of display and that's fine with me. I now have 256 channels and well over 36000 lights and I'm happy with that.

I stayed with Aurora as well for the same reasons. I know the limits of it and that is good enough for me.

I'm trying to convert my Dlight controllers to DMX.  It seems that the Dlight forum went away.  Does anyone have the info on how to convert or map new chips for the Dlight controllers?

You need PIC programmer to convert the DLIGHT chips to DMX if they were not locked properly. If not, they need to be e-erased then reprogrammed. You'll need Deweycooter program to assign the DMX channel to the right numbering.

EDIT: This might or might not be of use for you.... http://www.d-light.us/index.php/home - http://www.d-light.us/index.php/home
