Otto,

Development is ongoing, but at a slow pace.  In addition to several changes already being beta tested, we are presently moving all of Aurora over to E1.31 DMX.  We do not plan to natively support proprietary protocols such as PixelNet, but we will be making available a development API for third parties to write protocol plugins for Aurora.

Hi, was wondering if there will be any support for the new Smart Strings on PixelNet that have been developed over at DLA? It appears that LOR, LSP and Vixen all have support, it would great to see Aurora supporting.
On another note, is the Aurora development still on going or should I move over to another program, there hasnt been a new update for over 2 years?

Welcome to Aurora!  There is no option to set the speed for songs for sequencing purposes.  However, if you are trying to adjust the speed of the song so that the sequence itself is shorter or longer, that can be accomplished with third party programs like Audacity.  You can also highlight just the area you want to work on in the spectrogram, which helps when sequencing as well.  Also, the Page Up / Page Down keys zoom the spectrogram, so you can easily program quick timing commands.  So you know, while Aurora works with many audio files, it is best to stick with .wav format because not all mp3 encoders are created equal and import issues can occur if th mp3 wasn't encoded quite right to begin with.
 
There is no set schedule or timeframe for an update release as the development of Aurora is currently on a hobby level.  However,  if you do need access to the DMX beta build, you can PM LightsOnLogan, and Michael (the primary developer) can add you to that group.

So Basically I am lazy....
 
I am about to start to prepare for this years display and need to know has Aurora got a direction forward? are there (obtainable) timelines on new feature sets that I can use? Do I need to reconfigure all my hardware now that Aurora is going DMX?
 
I used to think that all I had to worry about was the lights now the whole dang world is changing every year! frustrating for sure but if this was easy everyone would do it I guess.
 
Anyways as always frustrated in a semi-good way,

Thats the beauty of Aurora - you don't need a quad-core, nitrous injected, liquid cooled super computer to do the job; because Aurora doesn't need NetFlamework unlike the other guys.

Have run past shows on a gimpy 800Mhz P2. Running on a 1.2Ghz Pentium D this year only because the old computer died.
